This is one of the most common faults we see on the Barista Express, and one that can
show up in a few different ways.
Steam coming out of the grouphead instead of the wand. No steam at all when you turn the
dial. Or steam that starts then cuts off after just a few seconds.We suggest trying a descale if you haven’t already as it could help dislodge scale if that is
the cause. Scale build-up is a surprisingly common cause of steam faults on the Barista
Express and occasionally clears the problem without any further work needed.
If descaling doesn’t fix it, the fault is almost certainly due to a component fault. internal.
